Concept study to improve and add value to the h-index visualizations

The h-index is an important publication metric by which researchers are evaluated. The metric is straightforward, yet ambiguous.

Currently the information provided in the graph and table is very limited. The concept study sets out to make the graph valuable: Improve the usability and add information to the graph, providing transparency and depth to the basic metric.

Current visualization:

To make the graph valuable, a bar chart is used to better represent all publications from the author. On hover, detailed information on the specific publication is shown. By overlaying additional information, research administrators were able to profile the author by only using the graph.
