Scopus author profiles form a central part of Scopus. However the quality of these was low as they were automatically generated. The manual correction process was laborious and time consuming, both for the author and Elsevier’s support desk.
To overcome, we designed a wizard that guides an author through the various choices step by step. Going through the user flow, knowing this is a complex proces that authors only need to perform occasionally, I came up with the idea to use a wizard.
The flow has a very high conversion rate (90%). Changes to the profile previously took 8+ weeks and now take -on average- 3 days.
As a result Scopus author profiles are of high quality and create a solid base for other successful Elsevier products like SciVal.
